Day 9 Aug 12 JMT Silver Pass

Earliest start yet at 7:20. Our goal was 7:00, but had to do blister first aid on YC.

YC walking by a Hugh Jeffrey pine

Sierra Juniper
Fireweed and sneezeweed (who named these?)

On the descent looking back up Mott canyon with Red and White Mountain in background is spectacular. The pictures I took don't capture the beauty. The day feels like The Weight by The Band.

The view up Mott canyon a valley of granite
Mott canyon again

Climbed Silver Pass saw a new flower Tolmie's saxifrage. Long grueling descent and we don't break much as we are making sure we get to ferry on lake Thomas Edison to get to VVR. We make it with an hour 45 to spare. Ate lunch (Mexican Rice) while we wait on ferry and chatted with hikers about pack weight, what to carry and what not to, mileage and other assorted issues.
