Upper Cathedral Lake to Evelyn Lake trail, 8904 elevation ft.
Today we traveled: 13.5miles 1115ft elevation gain 1834ft elevation loss.
JMT mile marker: 29.7mile.
After a restful night and good bowel movement we started the day hiking down to Tuolumne Meadows. My pack felt light and my legs felt strong. I was feeling good. That lasted about 1mile. Back to little aches and pains and feeling like we climbed a mountain for the last two days. Oh well maybe tomorrow I’ll be feeling good for a mile and a quarter.
We had couple of interesting wild life encounters today: 3 deers with big antlers were grazing right on the trail. They were majestic.
When we stoped for lunch by the Lyell Fork River a mama bear with two cubs was walking by. The cubs were very playful and the mama didn’t seem to care about us.
Our lunch spot was so beautiful and completely private unless you count the bear party as an intruders. We swam in the river and relaxed for 2hr. The weather is incredible and the water was refreshing.
Today is what I hoped our days on the trail would be.
