The lovely Virginia Lake |
Deer Creek trail to Fish Creek, 9091ft elevation.
Today we traveled: 13miles 2598ft elevation gain 2516ft elevation loss.
JMT mile marker: 78mile.
A week - wow. It feels like an achievement we should celebrate. We cheers with our coffee and start the day early, we got 12-13miles to cover today and half of them are uphill. We started the day in a shaded forest and spot a bear running away. I blow my whistle 3 times for good measure, letting any other bears out there know that I mean business.
The hike is going well and soon we get to see the mountains we are going to climb tomorrow.
We had breakfast at purple lake name after the purple red rock that form the mountains surrounding it. We climb out of there above 10,000ft and walk down to Lake Virginia where 3 Lamas are grazing away without anyone to supervise them.
I wish we could set out camp here but we have to cover more ground so we move on to a steep downhill into the forest.
It was a beautiful hike down and I fall asleep right away.
