Devil's post piles, we were having lunch across canyon
Start at shadow creek early (7:45) because we have a long day with some initial hill climbs and over 12 miles. We need to get to Red meadows for resupply. Feels like: One Thing Leads To Another by The Fixx (replace thing with step). We pass many small lakes and spend alot of time on the climb in the shade of Mountain Hemlocks. Large Hemlocks, 50 feet or more much larger than I have seen in Tahoe. We also passed through stands of red fir. The trail turns downwards on a wide track of pumice and we make good time arriving at Reds Meadows at 1:30ish. We check in at campground. Which is nearly a quarter mile away from store. I am destined to make the walk several times. We get back to store and have a beer and some chips before laundry and showers. Some internet work, a Veggie burger and a salad later we are back at camp sorting through resupply.

I found a heads up penny again, which is good since I lost the last one. I also found a quarter a few days ago which is handy since the diameter is about a mile on our map. The penny is 3/4 mile.
