Day 6. Highs and Lows

Shadow Lake

Ediza Lake trail to Red’s Meadows, 7644 oelevation.

Today we traveled: 11.85miles 1601ft elevation gain 2900ft elevation loss.

JMT mile marker: 60.8mile.

Today was a fast pace hike to get to Red’s Meadows - our first resupply location. The hike itself was easy on mainly sandy path which was easy walking compared to the rocks and boulders we hiked on in previous days. It was easy but dusty and I feel like now everything is covered in dust.

With our packs almost empty of food the 12miles flew by.

At Red’s we got to do real laundry, to take a 10min shower, to charge our electronics, to have a cell reception, a connection to the world, to sort thru our supplies and fit them in the bear vaults and to eat a big green salad with a veggie burger and beer, which was really great but also made the day very busy and hectic!

The whole camp ground is on this dusty sand and pumice ground. For the first time in my life I felt both clean and dirty in the same time.

I’ve must been exhausted and frustrated because by the time it was bed time I shade tears and felt sorry for myself. I cleaned my feet with wipes and went to bed.
