We are sitting in our chairs looking at Half dome and enjoying our lunch of lentil shepherd pie.
We are spent from today’s hike, I have close to 9.5miles for the day but we’ve decided to only have the actual miles on the trail count.
So no credit for the miles we hiked before we got to the official trail.
The climb up from the valley floor was never ending and with full packs it was a grueling day. Lots of families and day hikers up to Nevada Falls.
In the afternoon we hiked for about a mile with a mule deer mama and her two babies. They kept going up and crossing our path. They didn’t seem to pay attention to us or the other hikers and it was quite magical.
Later when we were sitting in camp, I heard some strange sound of ground stomping and dirt kicking and when I got up to look what it was - It was a group of young bucks eating and playing right next to our tent. They have no fear of humans. They are very cute.
I found my birthday gift : Bob tried hiding a chocolate bar that I like. Haha. I’m surprised he was able to keep it hidden from me for 2 days now. I wonder if he would let me have it before my birthday. Yifat.
