YC's birthday but I forget until I get a text on the Garmin wishing her a happy birthday from her father, woops. We have chocolate later which makes it all good. We leave only at 10am, trying to get full charge on the battery. Otherwise today is climbing continuously in hot and dusty conditions. It is at least 90 degrees. Pretty much fill water every opportunity and go slow. Shoes come off and chairs out for a lunch of ramen (regular). We have good view of rainbow fire damage and continuing evidence of the devil wind.

We call it quits after 6 miles and adjust our itinerary to make up mileage later in week. Trail is forgetful Other then meadows we pass through. Hoppin'john for dinner. We are eating when three dear stop by to munch on flowers near the creek.
