We have breakfast at Mt. Williamson hotel sitting at a big table with other hikers and chatting about JMT. People are very friendly; must be my eyebrows. We really enjoyed the zero day although we walked too much and ate probably the right amount. The journey, odyssey, trek or just plain JMT is almost over. I sketched out the remaining days by mileage. Didn’t need to because YC’s itinerary is awesome.

The Plan |
Just because we are getting close and about to finish- the excitement is building. We are having fun despite the adversity which I guess has to be part of it. Our blue minds had us very prepared- and then we had fun. I think that everything we packed got used. My obsessing with weight (was good) and threatening to ship some stuff back to ourselves at VVR (not necessary). Back on it with On the Road Again by Willie. Our group of hikers- in two vehicles from the hotel left staggered from the trailhead. We left last and the only person we didn’t pass was our hiking buddy also SOBO. The rest I suspect are NOBO so not benefitting from 23 days on the trail. My body was acclimated to 10,000 feet according to Garmin. That’s like living in Cusco Peru in the Andes. We hike over Kearsarge for the second time and feels like Feeling Good by Nina Simone.

Looking for camp in the Rain |
Then it started to rain. It was cold and wet. I wore base layer, socks beanie and had my 15 degree bag zipped all the way. YC wouldn't give up on tea and cookies. So we stood in rain and got chilled to bone. Now it is Edge of Darkness by Greta Van Fleet.
